Weekend road closures for County Durham drivers to avoid

But drivers will be relieved by the fact they are only expected to cause slight delays, of under 10 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that two closures already in place are expected to carry on this weekend:

• A19, from 8pm September 18 2023 to 6am May 1 2025, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A19 north and southbound, A182 Cold Hesledon Interchange, carriageway and lane closures for maintenance works.

• A1(M), from 8pm October 3 2024 to 6pm October 3 2025, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A1M southbound, junction 64 Interchange, lane closure for barrier safety fence works.

And a further two closures will begin next week:

• A66, from 8pm January 5 to 6am January 18, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A66 westbound, Cross Lanes to Boldron, Lane closure for Weather Station Renewal works.

• A1(M), from 8pm January 6 to 6am January 14, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A1M, junction 62 Interchange, carriageway closure, lane closure for Resurfacing Patching works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
