Whitletts Vics in the Community slams weekend vandals

Whitletts Vics in the Community, the charity arm of Whitletts Victoria FC, issued a statement online slamming the young people who also spray painted buildings and broke a padlock.

Police have been informed about the incident on Saturday, January 11 and the charity has urged parents to help them address the behaviour.

A spokesperson said: “A good win for our senior team today at NVP however a very challenging day for our volunteers unfortunately.

“During the game today a group of youths through flares and stones in to NVP damaging the pitch.

“After everything was locked up after the game, the same group of youths returned and broke in via the secure gate setting off our CCTV.

“Our volunteers and players who were close by raced down and disturbed the group.

“Unfortunately the group have broke our padlock and spray painted our banners and side of the pavilion. They also tried to gain access to our container.

“We have agreed not to share any videos on social media tonight and are speaking with various people including parents and coaches before deciding what to share.

“Police Scotland attended today and will be provided with the images that we have from in and outside NVP and images of the group on the way to the game that have also been shared with us.

“We are really hoping there is no further damage to our property over the weekend or next coming weeks/weekends.

“We ask parents, coaches and other clubs to help us address this behaviour to avoid any further issues.”
