Winchester Soroptimists make donation to local charities

Soroptimist International’s branch in Winchester was left “concerned” after Storm Durragh meant it missed the Winchester Christmas Fair in December.

The group said this meant it may not have been able to make its Christmas donations to The Winchester Beacon, Trinity, the Women’s Refuge and the Purple Community Fund.

This, alongside a donation from Rick Stein Winchester, meant the group was able to make its Christmas donations.

Julie Blackwell, the group’s treasurer, said: “We make regular donations throughout the year to local charities and it gave us real concern when we missed our slot at the Christmas Fair.

“It also gives us the opportunity to talk about our organisation and create awareness. We are grateful to our supporters.”

It also thanked the Bambridge Garden Centre for donating spring bulbs for the group to sell at fairs.
